If you live in a condo, your association will carry insurance for the real property of your unit to rebuild or get paid for the actual real estate. You, personally, however are responsible for the damage inside your unit, such as your personal property, individual liability, and individual, inside unit, damage.
A personal policy for a condo unit owner is called an HO-6 policy.
Consult with your condo association before getting your own policy as there is no need to pay for overlapping coverage, but you also do not want gaps in your coverage
