Although the name Cancer insurance makes it appears as if it something that you need, you should consider carefully what it is is and whether you need it. Cancer insurance covers hospital and other expenses related to cancer care, such as, perhaps co-pays and special dietary needs.
Make sure, however, that this is not covered by your existing medical insurance. If you have a good plan, all these needs may be significantly covered. There is no need to have redundant insurance, ever. You are paying twice, but will only be covered once You will not “make a profit” if you are double covered and the event occurs.
The idea of hospital or other extra needs for cancer sounds nice, but most cancer care is on an outpatient basis. Chemo and other procedures do not require a hospital stay.
If you have a pre-existing cancer condition, you will most likely not be eligible for cancer insurance as well.
If you are concerned about cancer and the financial needs, you should discuss it with your agent. Oftentimes, upgrading your regular health insurance may be a better solution.
